Christmas Decoration using Dear Santa

Hello!

From Kaisers Wooden Tidy I have made a big decorative piece using papers and embellishments from the Q2 Dear Santa range.

Along with poinsettias and some glittery sticks I also decorated some foam balls with brads and glitter and stuck them on a wooden skewer.

Lilac Avenue - Flower Pot

Good Afternoon!

Using the Lilac Avenue paper pad, a Kaiser pen tidy, purple paint, rhinestone strips and some ribbon I created this little flower pot.

Inside I filled it with florist foam and some artificial lavender.

Now I just need to decide who I will give it to.

Christmas Carnival

Hello Everyone!

I would just like to show you some things I made yesterday using Kaisers Q2 Christmas Carnival Collection.

I was a bit stuck with what to give my daughters school teacher as a Thank You for this year, so I started playing around with the Carnival papers and this is what I came up with: (comments will be appreciated!!)
Its a little tote made from 1 sheet of 12" papers, 2 brads and a strip of paper for the handle. For inside I made a little box out of pink cardstock which will be filled with either chocolates or toffees.
I then made a magnetic shopping list for on the fridge. (using some more of the pink cardstock, piece of ribbon, a couple of rhinestones and a small pad from king kong)


And I made a cover for a packet of post it notes. It has a little loop up the top for a small pencil or pen and I used the Carnival puffy stickers as an embellishment.
With a scrap of the cardstock I had left I made a little holder for either a gift voucher or lottery ticket.

I then decided I needed to make a table center piece for Christmas. Finding nothing else suitable I used the smaller square tissue box cover from Kaiser, turned it upside down, put a bit of cardboard in the bottom to seal the hole and painted it red. After I finished embellishing it, I filled it with florist foam and pushed a candle in. To cover the rest of the green I used some silvery tinselly stuff (sorry forgot the name!!).

Christmas Presents

Hello Everyone!

For the past week I have been making Christmas Presents for my daughters teachers and some people who are very hard to buy for and have everything already anyway, so I thought to share them with you.
These are fabric covered 6 x 6" note books I picked up at Target at a clearance price. I've had them for over a year always meaning to do something with them and now I finally have.

For the above note book I used the new Kaiser Christmas Carnival paper pad. These paper pads are great! Each pad includes 10 specialty papers (2 x flocked, 2 x spot varnish, 2 x foil and 4 die cuts) as well as 24 sheets of designed paper. I have also used Prima Flowers, our brand of crystal brads and AC Thickers.


For the purple note book I used the Lilac Avenue paper pad from Kaiser, Lilac Avenue Alpha Stickers (with matching chipboard) as well as Prima Flowers, Crystal Brads and Kaiser Adhesive Pearls and Ranger Ice Stickles.

Tomorrow I will show you the candle holder I made using the New Kaiser Christmas Carnival Range of papers.

Hema - New Online Store in the Netherlands

The Hema is a well known department store in Holland. It was one of my favourite stores when I lived there! I especially have a weakness for their "worsten broodjes" Yummy! (like a sausage roll - but different!).

Anyway, they have just set up a website so you can do online shopping, Have a look at their product page, you are unable to order anything as the site is not accepting orders yet - but just wait a couple of seconds and watch what happens. Make sure the sound is turned up on your computer!

Personally I think its brilliant!

Scrapbooking on a Budget

With the way the world is financially at the moment, we all look at ways to save money. So I have challenged myself to create a few layouts spending $10 or less.

Here is the first one:

Here is what I used:
* the white page inserts that are in the albums - $0
* 1 sheet of patterned paper, making memories - $1.45
* sheet of vellum stickers from EK success - $2.99
* 4 eyelets - $0.10
* 1 sheet of Cardstock - $0.70
* 1/2m ribbon - $0.50
* Metal ribbon slide, alpha beads, washer and rub ons from stash, but probably valued at $3 (as they are not full packets)
So total spent: $8.74 (less than $4.50 per page!!)

And here is the 2nd one:

I used:
* the white page inserts that come with the album as backing pages. - $0
* 3 sheets of patterned paper (marked down as it was last seasons!) $1 each - $3.00
* Mulberry Flowers - $3.00
* 2 packets of Kaiser Adhesive Pearls $1.80 each - $3.60
* Brads and rub ons from stash - probably about $3 value
So the total is $12.60.....and yes I have gone over budget!

A Mother's job....

I have just received this e-mail...and I thought all the mum's out there would appreciate it!

THE NEXT
SURVIVOR SERIES

Six married men will be
dropped on an island
with one car and
3 kids each for
six weeks.

Each kid will play
two sports
and either take music
or dance classes.

There is no fast food.

Each man must
take care of his 3 kids;
keep his assigned
house clean,
correct all homework,
and
complete science projects,
cook, do laundry,
and pay a list of
'pretend' bills with
not enough money.

In addition, each man
will have to budget
in money
for groceries each
week.

Each man
must remember the
birthdays
of all their friends
and relatives,
and send cards out
on time--no Emailing.

Each man must also
take each child to a
doctor's appointment,
a dentist appointment
and a
haircut appointment.

He must make
one unscheduled and
inconvenient visit per
child to the A & E.

He must also
make biscuits or cakes
for a social function.

Each man will be
responsible for
decorating his own
assigned house,
planting flowers outside
and keeping it presentable
at all times.

The men will only
have access to television
when the kids are asleep
and all chores are done.

The men must
shave their legs,
wear makeup daily,
adorn himself with jewellery,
wear uncomfortable yet stylish shoes,
keep fingernails polished
and eyebrows groomed.

During one of the six weeks,
the men will have to endure
severe abdominal cramps,
back aches,
and have extreme,
unexplained mood swings
but never once complain
or slow down from
other duties.

They must attend
weekly school meetings,
church, and find time
at least once to spend the
afternoon at the park or
a similar setting.

They will need to
read a book to the kids
each night and in the
morning,
feed them, dress them,
brush their teeth and
comb their hair by 8:00 am.

A test will be given at the
end of the six weeks,
and each father will
be required to know
all of the following
information:
each child's birthday,
height, weight,
shoe size, clothes size
and doctor's name.
Also the child's
weight at birth,
length, time of birth,
and length of labour,
each child's favourite colour,
middle name,
favourite snack,
favourite song,
favourite drink,
favourite toy,
biggest fear and
what they want to be
when they grow up.

All the above must be completed whilst working
in either full time
(preferably) or part time
employment to assist in
the financial input for
the family.

The kids vote them off
the island
based on performance.
The last man wins only if...
he still has enough energy
to be intimate with his
spouse at a moment's
notice.

If the last man does win,
he can play the game over
and over and over again
for the next 18-25 years
eventually earning the
right
To be called Mum!

Brads and Eyelets

When I first started Scrapbooking about 5 years ago, eyelets were all the rage! Everyone I knew used them to adhere photos, add accents etc, but now most of my friends (myself included!) rarely touch an eyelet and always use brads. Although I have seen in some of the Scrapbook Magazines - eyelets are making a comeback! So I was wondering.....

What do you prefer to use? Brads or eyelets or both?

On average how many brads or eyelets would you use per page?

The process of making Brads for Scrapbooking

Brads start off as a coil of metal as shown in the image above.

The above machine is used to make the moulds for the shaped brads.

The brads are processed through the machine and come out at the bottom.

The above picture shows Crystal Brads. The form and Acrylic gem need to be put together which gets done by hand.

The painting is done in a different factory, and I will be receiving those photos in the coming weeks.



Above are the images of our brads which should arrive in our store in about 10 days. They still need to be packed and the 5mm ones still need to be sprayed with glitter.

Daylight saving

On Saturday Western Australia will once again go to the polls to vote on the topic of Daylight Saving.

Here are some wise words just e-mailed to me.....

When told the reason for Daylight saving time, the Old Indian said:
"Only the government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket and sew it at the bottom and have a longer blanket"

Book of Me

How many of us find that we are always taking the photos, and scrapping only other people in our lives?

My goal this year is to scrap a book of me. It will start from birth till present.

Any ideas on topics I should definitely have in there? Has anyone done a book about themselves?

Happy Mother's Day to all the mother's and grandmothers!

The above photo is of the wonderful present I received from my 20 month old DS. I love receiving hand made presents...especially from my kids. My 5 year old DD made a beautiful card in the shape of a handbag and a decorated noodle box filled with treasures including chocolate...which disappeared into her mouth when I wasn't looking!

Kaiser Tissue Box

Last night I was in a creative mood, so decided to make a tissue box cover. It took about 3 hours from start to finish - and my daughter loves it! (as it features her!)

For the scalloped edges I used a Fiskars border punch. (best punch I have ever bought!).

The papers are not listed on the website, as I normally just sell them locally - but I can list them on request. There are 6 papers in the collection.

The new man in my life!

I haven't been on here for a very long time. But that is about to change!

My last post, August last year, I had just found out I was pregnant, and now I am the proud mother of Alexander. He really is the most perfectly behaved baby, he even sleeps through the squealing and giggling from his older siblings. (and that can get quite noisy at times!). I wonder how long it will last....
